1. The first coffee in the morning
Every morning I look forward to my coffee. Maybe it’s my addiction talking but coffee is the way I tell my brain to turn on for the day.
Friends are my bread and butter. I love spending my time with people I love and care about and people who love and care about me. Since I’ve been living away from my family for so many years friends have become my family. (I get to choose friends too, which is a bonus)
Laughter is the best medicine. Throughout my darkest days, if I could manage to laugh at least once I knew I would be okay.
4. Quiet mornings
One of the nicest things is waking up without an alarm clock. I love opening my eyes on a Saturday or Sunday to no alarm clock and Obi snuggled close to me.
5. Hot breakfasts
On the weekends I really enjoy having a hot breakfast. Whether it’s tea and oatmeal or coffee and an omelette, it’s something I look forward to every week.
6. Quiet nights
I’ve gotten quite used to spending a lot of time by myself. Somedays it’s better than others, but I’ve grown to love my quiet alone time. Some of my favourite nights are spent snuggling up on my couch, listening to music, drinking tea and cuddling with Obi.
Coming home to Obi every day makes coming home to an empty apartment that much easier. I know Obi needs me and I need Obi. He’s my shining light. Plus… Obi is by far the cutest cat ever. (look at those eyes!)
I LOVE food. I love cooking food. I love eating food. I love thinking about food. One of the best feelings is finishing a delicious meal and being so completely content.
9. Calling Lori
Lori is the most important person I have in my life. She’s my role model, best friend and personal therapist (sorry!). Speaking to Lori makes me feel a type of love I’ve never felt before. She protects me and that feeling is something I yearn for always.
10. Falling in love with new places
I may be a gypsy. Spending time in new places and exploring new things is something I really love about living. I fall in love so easily and quickly with places.
The excitement of a new place and how you tend to see things differently for the first time is something I really like.
11. Finding new music.
Like most, music is a saving grace for me. I’m listening to music from the second I get up, the drive to work, at work, in the car home and in the evenings at home.
Music for me is a constant. It’s something I use to calm my anxiety and focus on the task at hand. Music makes me feel creative, it makes me feel passionate and I always write better articles and stories when I have music playing.
12. Taking my bra off
One of my all time favourite moments of the day is when I come home and I take my bra off. It totally comes off within minutes of me entering my house.
13. Taking my makeup off
My second favourite moment of the day is when I come home and I take my makeup off.
Truth be told… I don’t wear makeup every day. I went for a full month without wearing makeup and I loved every second of it. But, when I do wear makeup… I can’t wait to take it off.
14. Long drives
Since growing up and getting my license and a car, I have always loved going on drives. It’s another way for me to turn off my mind and just explore. My car is a safe place for me. It’s where I can listen to music while exploring new places.
15. Fresh air
My last favourite thing is fresh air. The smell of fresh air. The breeze it creates. It’s something I can’t get enough of.
As soon as I get in my car, my windows are rolled down. As soon as I get home, my windows are opened. I will spend as much time as I get outside, just so I’m in the fresh air.
It makes me feel less claustrophobic and it makes me feel more at peace.
And if I asked you to name all the things that you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?
