5 steps to get your sh*t together

Have you ever felt like life was getting a little too much for you to handle… well fear not, here are 5 steps to get your sh*t together.

I’ve struggled with motivation and laziness before and these five tips have seriously helped me remodel my life. They’re simple changes you can make to your day-to-day life and I promise you, you will notice a difference.

Invest your time and energy into people who love you

There is nothing worse than investing your time and energy into people who don’t reciprocate the same time and energy. Relationships, friendships and working partnerships are two way streets. They’re never going to flourish if only one person is trying.

Edit your life. Spend time with people who make you feel good. Think about who you’re welcoming into your life. Do you enjoy spending time with them? Do they lift you up? Are you envious of their life?

Answer those questions in your head and spend time with people who lift you up not those who leave you hurt.

Save your money

The hardest thing I’ve had to learn to do is budget. It’s been a long process and not the easiest, but 100% rewarding. Every pay I automatically pay off all my bills and move half my rent and insurance money into another account so I can’t use it until I must pay it. Then I put some savings into another account that I cannot touch.  This allows the money to stay there and I know in my mind that it can’t come out.

Also, I’ve started to only use cash. This allows me to see what I’m spending my money on and how much money I have left to spend that week. It’s really helped with not overspending and being able to save some money for travel.

Be nice to your body

You don’t have to be the next supermodel, but being nice to your body is important. I’ve been working out regularly for nearly two months now and I feel great. I’ve also traded in my chip addiction for healthy food. Who am I?!

The changes I feel within myself and huge and the effort I’ve put in hasn’t been extensive. The small changes of exercise and good food has helped so much with motivation and feeling good inside and out.

Be present

Turn your off phone. Delete snapchat. Open your eyes. The world continues to turn and evolve while you’re scrolling on your phone. Taking time to detox from data is so rewarding.

Get some hobbies

It’s so easy to come home from work or school, make a dinner and then sit in front of your laptop or tv all night. I can be guilty of that. I work all day on my laptop and then go home and binge watch youtube or tv in the evening.

Instead of growing my addiction to youtube and being lazy on a couch, I’m getting hobbies. I’m reading in the evenings, I’m writing, I’m turning my dreams into reality. I’m getting out of my comfort zone and I’m meeting new people, playing board games and even going bouldering. (so much fun!)

Life can sometimes be a routine, but when hobbies are involved, you will be growing yourself and you will feel great at the end of the day.

Keep going and keep dreaming. If you want to accomplish anything in life, you’ve got to go out and make it happen, and never give up.

    Great post! I’ve been implementing some of these things into my daily life and I can see tge change. The carrying cash thing though I must try because I’m.always using card and rarely carry cash. I’ll have to be extra careful with my purse but I’ll definitely try it out!
