Days off

Two of my favourite things in life are weekends and days off work. I love to work, but I think having a couple days off is an amazing way for me to let go, relax and stop thinking about all the negative things going on in the world.

It’s a time where I don’t wake up to my alarm (usually) and I can do whatever my little heart desires.

Lately, I have been trying to get out on my days off and really take in what Kelowna has to offer.Β I’ve been loving exploring the waterfront around the Okanagan. There’s a beautiful park downtown that has a ton of green space and a beach and I’ve been going there a lot. There’s also a smaller beach by my home, which I tend to go to when I don’t want to drive downtown.

*The picture below is the beach by my house. How beautiful is that view? I swear I live in paradise*

Last weekend I went to the park downtown, read my book, listened to some boys play the guitar and honestly just smiled. I unplugged for several hours and it was so relaxing. After I sat in the park for awhile, I went to get an iced coffee at my favourite coffee shop Pulp Fiction and then headed to the beach.

When I was at the beach, I dug my toes into the sand and continued to read my book until the evening. I nodded on and off and had a short nap in the sand.

Living in beautiful British Columbia I feel the need to take advantage of the beaches around me. It’s a beautiful spot to read, relax and think about my goals and how I’m going to achieve them.

Life is good and I can’t wait to continue to explore Kelowna this summer.

PS: I would highly recommend the book I am currently reading. I found it at Value village and I honestly can’t put it down. It’s about a young female who travels to northern Canada to start her career as a journalist. Kinda reminds me of myself, except I didn’t go all the way to Yellowknife, just Thompson, Manitoba.

Better days are coming and they’re called Saturday and Sunday.

Absolutely stunning beach view! I usually go to the local coffee shop to unwind on my days off, but if the weather’s fabulous and I’m itching for a change of scenery, then I head off to the beach, too. Great post!

This looks like a perfect day off. I love lazy days, just doing what makes me content.

Sounds like a perfect, relaxing weekend. I’m trying to take advantage of where I live on the weekends as well. I don’t go to the beach enough!

Love, love, love this post! I swear my hubby and me were just discussing this. We live on Lake Erie and people travel to the area all summer long to visit and enjoy the beach. But, I think living by the beach, sometimes we forget to take advantage of all the benefits of a beach lifestyle! So, we decided this summer, we are pretending we are on vacation at the beach on our days off. And it has been so much fun. We’ve been going down to the water for sunsets, we’ve been pontooning, I’ve done some beach yoga classes. Taking the time to relax and unplug on your days off is SOO important and so good for the soul! Thanks for the awesome post (and I will have to check out that book!)
