Life Sightseeing

Photo Diary: Best Friends in BC

Two of my longest friends packed their suitcases and traveled to British Columbia to visit me.

I haven’t seen Jasmine in four years and Sonia in about 2. It’s been a long time and I was ecstatic about showing them around the Okanagan, my new home.

Here’s the photo diary of what we got up to.

Kangaroo Creek Farm

Who doesn’t love Kangaroos? Jasmine, Sonia and I traveled to Lake Country to hold some baby joeys and it was so cute. I had been to the Kangaroo farm previously on a date with Matthew and I knew that Sonia and Jasmine would love it.

Fintry Falls

Fintry Falls

I wanted to show Jasmine and Sonia some of the beauty that British Columbia has to offer. We all know BC has beautiful mountains (which they got to see every day), but we also have incredible waterfalls here.

I am a chaser of waterfalls, so we got some people together and heading to the Fintry Falls waterfalls. We even took a little detour to find some hidden falls that include natural waterslides! The water may have been freezing and the hike a little sketchy, but I hope Jasmine and Sonia enjoyed the views.

Sumac Ridge Winery

While we were on our way to Penticton, we decided to exit the highway to taste some wine.

We ended up at Sumac Ridge Winery. The wine was delicious, the sommelier was charming and the views were picture perfect.

The Beaches

Nearly every single day we spent some time by the water. Whether that was lounging on the beach the first day they arrived, floating on our floaties or swimming underneath waterfalls. The weather while Jasmine and Sonia were here was on average about 33 degrees, so being by the water was necessary.

BBQ and Hey Y’alls

One of the things I was most excited about was showing Sonia and Jasmine my normal life here in Kelowna. I got to show them my office, they got to meet Matthew, Obi and some of my best friends here.

We hosted a BBQ at Matthew’s house and we played games, drank Hey Y’alls and had some bbq.

It’s been years since I last saw Jasmine and Sonia. I wasn’t sure what it would be like having my elementary and high school best friends visiting me in my new life, but it was fulfilling. Things have changed since I last saw these girls. They have families, we have careers and we’re trying to figure this thing called “life” out. But, one thing is for sure, I couldn’t be more proud of what Jasmine and Sonia have accomplished so far and I couldn’t be more proud to call them my best friends.

No matter the distance or the length of time between our last chat, they will always be my girls. The ones that I can sit in silence with,  watch silly youtube videos together in bed with and laugh until I cry with.

They’re the ones I will always call on when I need someone because they truly, really do know me.
