I love my apartment, simple as that! I’ve never had an apartment that was just my own, where I didn’t have to deal with roommates. I’ve had my fair share of roommates, and although I still call most of them my friends, I don’t want to ever live with someone ever again, until I’m married.
It’s so nice having your own place, decorating it yourself, and worrying about your things, and no one else’s. Plus you can be as clean or messy as you want.
I found my apartment quite quickly, which was a godsend because it’s apparently really hard to find apartments in Kelowna in the fall because of secondary school starting. I facetimed my landlord and viewed the apartment before I arrived and got the keys when I made it to Kelowna.
The apartment is really open, and has a lot of windows, which I love. I think that’s Obi’s favourite part too because he loves to stare out the window.
My bedroom is mostly a black and white theme that started when Lori and I picked out this bed set. I’ve been having a real love affair with black, white, and trees so this worked perfectly. My favourite part of my bedroom is the amount of storage! Having one whole wall as a closet is nice, and the amount of mirrors is handy too.
I bought this bedside table for $5 at a second hand place, and painted it to match the room. I think it turned out quite well!
My kitchen is one of my favourite spots in the house because of the sliding doors outside to my patio. Although I share the backyard with Max my landlords dogs, it’s a great place to go in the morning for a sun salutation and a cup of tea.
Lori and I picked up this table and tables for $35, which is a steal and made it look super cute with the painting Lori gave me, and some fresh cut flowers.
My bathroom is quite simple, but what more can a bathroom be? I do wish I had a bathtub, but I can still use my Zoella stuff in the shower, so I’ll deal. I absolutely love my bathroom set for my face soap, toothbrush and hand soap. I bought it at the dollar store, for a total of $3. It’s real ceramic too, and not plastic!
My living room is totally my favourite spot though. In my living room I have my beautiful couch Lori and I bought, with the help of her family as well, and I’m head over heels for it. As soon as I sat down on the couch, Lori says I looked over at her with puppy love eyes, and she knew this was the one I wanted to get. I knew I wanted a grey couch, and having the chaise lounge part just made me love it more.
The mirror piece above the couch was actually there before I moved in, and it matched perfectly with the couch so I figured I would keep it. I had to represent my homeland of England with buying the Union Jack coffee table, as well as hanging up my Liverpool England football club scarf.
The wall to the left going into my bedroom is full of pictures with family and friends. I thought it was the perfect wall for a memory wall, and I can’t wait to get more frames and add more pictures. I also love the amount of storage I have, with the shelves beside the memory wall as well. It worked great to showcase my bits and bobs!
On the wall to the right of my bedroom is my yoga/meditation space. There isn’t much right now other than my mat, and a few pictures.
It feels so nice to have somewhere I’m completely comfortable, and somewhere I could see myself staying for awhile. Plus Obi loves it too, so that’s a bonus.
What makes your home your home? For me it’s having Obi.
