Hello 2017,
it’s nice to finally meet you. For the past few months, I have been anxiously awaiting your arrival. Last night I clinked my glass to you and to the possibility of all my dreams and desires coming true.
2016 was a huge year for me. I learned a lot about myself and about my life. I figured out who I was, who I want to spend time with, what I’m looking for in life and in a future partner. I learned how to say yes, but also how to say no.
2017 is going to be another amazing year and I’m so excited to share what I get up to on this blog. With a start of a new year, that means goals and intentions. So, like everyone else in the world, I am about to share what I want to accomplish this year. I hope by writing them down, they will stick.
Run a half marathon
This is my biggest goal for 2017. I want to run a half marathon and I want to complete it without stopping. I ran my first 10km race last year and I’m ready to up my game. I loved the feeling of running and racing and I want to feel that again. This just means I have to actually tie my laces and hit the pavement.
Drink more water and less alcohol
This doesn’t really need an explanation. I need to drink more water and I want to drink a lot less booze. I don’t drink too much alcohol, but I would like to have a month of no drinking at all and then for drinking to happen when there’s a celebration of some sorts. Since I’ll be training for my half marathon, drinking less will come easy (I hope)
Create a morning routine
I want to wake up earlier and actually have a morning. Currently, I wake up late most days, rush around my house and then leave for work. I’d love to be able to wake up, move slowly, drink a coffee and maybe even have breakfast at home. I just need to learn how to not hit snooze 100 times every morning. If anyone has any tips on that, I’d love to hear them.
Read every book in my collection
Books are some of my favourite things. I lovedelving into a new world, learning about new characters and feeling the magic that is a great book. I don’t have the biggest book collection, but what I do have, is a lot of half-finished books.
I want to finish all of my half-read books before buying any new ones. So, bring on a new book every month and falling in love with many different characters and imaginary worlds.
Turn off more
While this may not be on the top of the priority list, this intention is very important to me. I want to live. Fully and completely. I want to explore more, love more, turn off my cell phone more, leave my laptop shut more and take more pictures.
I want to see this world without seeing it through a screen. I spend enough of my time on devices, so I want to commit to leaving the digital world behind for awhile. To start, after I finish this post, I am going to go for a walk by the water before it gets dark. I’m going to breathe in the fresh mountain air, I’m going to look at the lake and I’m going to soak it in.
I’m going to live a pure authentic life this year.
You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.

January 4, 2017 at 1:14 amI love this!!! I wish you all the best of accomplishing your goals. I totally feel you on the turn off more goal. I’m a new travel blogger, so I find myself on my phone a lot to engage on social media or take a billion pictures. In 2017, I really want to work on having a balance. Thanks for the great read!

January 5, 2017 at 8:06 pmYou have some seriously awesome goals here. My fave is the one of you waking up earlier every day. That sounds like a great way to get the day going on a positive note. Don’t mind me if I still the idea, totally got inspired =]
