This past Saturday I competed in the Mud Sweat and Tears challenge with a group of my coworkers.
The race saw multiple obstacles we had to complete, mountains we had to climb, logs we had to carry, hurdles we had to jump and mud we had to crawl through. Although there wasn’t as much mud as I expected there to be, it was still a lot of fun.
The hardest obstacle in my mind was swimming at the very end. I was born in water and have been swimming since I was just a baby but that swimming shocked me. I jumped into the water and was told I could touch, but I for sure couldn’t. The water was also ice cold.
The water hit my chest and throat and I started to freeze up. It was refreshing for one second but the chill of the water was something I’ve never felt before.
I am surprised I didn’t have a panic attack!
In the end, our team finished, we got our medals and posed for a ton of pictures. It was a great team building experience and was a total workout.
All I would suggest is for there to be more mud and fewer hills to climb.
I pushed myself and complained a lot (sorry team) but I finished and I couldn’t be prouder of myself and my coworkers.
Alone we can do so little… together we can do so much.

July 15, 2018 at 6:11 amWe have one here in Australia called tough mudda, it’s very similar to this super high intensity and a tonne of fun, it’s a little pricey but I don’t think that’s all that big of a deal for the motivation of training and the actual fun of the event itself.
