On Wednesday night there was a meteor shower in Thompson, so after work I went and picked up my friend and we went on a little hunt for shooting stars. We ended up parking my car by the lake we went kayaking on. (read that post here)
With our tea and hot chocolate in hand we laid against the windshield of my car and we waited. Eventually we saw tons of shooting stars in the sky, and it was magical. Just when we thought it was over the northern lights danced for us.
Seeing the northern lights is something I will never grow accustom to while living in the north. They take my breath away every single time I see them. That night they were pure white, and they filled the sky and it made me feel so full.
I didn’t get any pictures of the shooting stars and the northern lights because a) I forgot my camera at work and b) I just wanted to live in that moment, and remember that night just for me.
Yesterday after work Achilles and I headed to Mid Lake to cross off another item off my summer bucket list…. Cliff diving.
I did this last year, and I wanted to do it again. A summer is not complete in Thompson unless you jump off the cliff into Mid Lake. I jumped into the lake, and floated on a blow up floaty for a while, and just soaked in the summer goodness.
Being in the water always makes me feel so connected to the earth, and living.
After our swim we went to Paint Lake for a cold beer and some wings, and watched the sunset on the dock.
Can it get any better than that? Not really! This summer I have completed my bucket list, and I’ve had one of the most adventurous summers of my life.
Explore not to find yourself, but to remember who you’ve been all along.
